Assassin's Creed Origins is a third-person action-adventure game that's set in a fantasy environment based on the Ptolemaic period of Egyptian history. As with previous releases in the Assassin's Creed series, most of the gameplay is based around stealth combat as opposed to open warfare. That gives it a much different feel than popular online FPS titles or even a standard RTS game.

Since the Egyptian theme is present in everything from the storyline to the interface, you could say that Assassin's Creed Origins really owns its setting. Perhaps most importantly, it features an open world ecosystem that's easy to explore even if you're not attempting to actually fulfill any of the specific objectives of the game. No major areas are really locked in the beginning, so you could theoretically spend hours roaming in-game maps without ever really doing anything that you're supposed to be doing. Some people might want to do this in order to grind and level up their character.

While this might prove attractive to those who want to set their own objectives, the game does provide an overarching immersive story that should be quite engrossing for almost anyone who enjoys fantasy exploration titles. While Origins does continue the storyline of earlier Assassin's Creed titles, there's no reason why you couldn't get into this one without ever having touched the previous ones.

In fact, it bring so much more to the table in terms of graphical polish and tight controls that you might think of this as the best one to get started on your journey as a member of the Assassin's Guild with.
